Kia ora! I think one of the most impactful things we can do to improve our spoken reo is to learn more words. One of my favourite ways is to find a small selection, and start using them straight away. So, here are some new words I found.
Whakatauki - He tangata ka rapa te whai. - A man whose clever devices will puzzle you. For a man who will emulate Maui. [Maori Sayings And Proverbs, Murdoch Riley, 57-6]
Etia: [Te Wiremu pg. 28]
Etia he waha tangata. - As if it were a person's mouth.
Etia kei te moe koe. - Perhaps you were sleeping.
Etia tonu tou humarire! - How great!
Manioro: [Te Wiremu pg. 175]
Manioro ki! - What a noise! (An expression of irritation.)
Matahiapo: [Te Wiremu pg. 186]
"I mau rawa to ringa. E kao, i matahiapo noa iho." - I'll grab your hand. Nah, fail whale, I missed.
